Our friends at Edinburgh and East of Scotland Cat Club are having their annual show at Leith Academy on 18th July.
The show is open to the public from around 12.30 to 16.30. Tickets cost just £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for juniors or concessions. A family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) is just £5. Tickets are available on the door and are not pre booked. Just turn up and enjoy a family day out.
The cat show is an opportunity to see a wide range of cat breeds close up including Maine Coons, Persians and Siamese. There are also moggies entered into the pet section. Many exhibitors stay with their cats during the afternoon so it’s also an opportunity to speak to owners and breeders. Or if you’re possibly interested in showing your own cat, you can see first-hand what’s involved. Cats are penned for the duration of the show. The show culminates in the Best In Show line up representing the best cats on the day, in each section
There will also be trade stands at the show offering a range of cat-related products to buy plus a tombola and raffle. The organisers say donations of goods and gift vouchers for the tombola and raffle from local residents and businesses are very welcome. The club can arrange for these to be collected in Edinburgh and Leith.
The club committee has also told us they are looking for helpers for the day of the show. If you are interested it’s easy to find out more by contacting the by contacting the show manager .
Leith Academy is walkable from most parts of Leith. Lothian Buses routes going past or close to Leith Academy (EH6 8JQ) include 10, 12, 16 and 36. There is free car parking at the venue and on adjacent roads including the roads running along the Links itself.
