Enjoy a family day out at the Edinburgh and East of Scotland Cat Show at Leith Academy on 20th July from 12.30 to 16.30. If you like cats or have children who like cats its a good way to see a wide variety of cats in one place. And you never know you might just catch the cat-show-bug. Every year a number of our feline and human clients attend the show and have great fun!
Among the varieties of cats on show are the longer coated cats such as Persians and Maine Coons. Other breeds present include Bengals and British Short Hairs. You will even find a section devoted to what cat show people call Household Pets. This is where you will find pedigree and moggy pets. In the pet section a good temperament is the most important thing the judges look out for although cats still have to be well presented. If you have a long-haired cat at home you’ll be able to see just how different a long coat looks when its been combed, bathed and then blow dried. Very glamorous. But seriously, a lot of hard work goes into making each cat looks its best on show day. You’ll find owners and breeders are a friendly bunch and just love talking cat!
As well as the cats there is a selection of stalls – everything from cat supplies to a tombola. Tickets are very reasonably priced at just £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for OAPS and children. A family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) costs just £5. Most importantly there is free parking available on site at Leith Academy. Should the main car park be full there is an overflow car park. Refreshments are also available on site.
Leith Academy is just a 2 minute walk from the West side of Leith Links and situated up a side street virtually opposite Tesco at the bottom of Easter Road.
